motion design✤
experimental 3D, typographic and graphic based motion design

Spotify Canvas: DRASII
This project consisted of creating an abstract animation the electronic group DRASII for the Spotify Canvas visual.
Using the inspiration that the group utilizes for their image I created a nature, psychedelic-esque moving visual that appears to move in unnatural and an almost AI-like way.

Screen Motion Graphic: Life on MARZ
For this client I was tasked to create a series of animations and loops that will be used in various settings using the Life on Marz logotype and/or the Life on Marz icon set.
I chose to animate a shifting color pallet inspired visual, utilizing the Marz logotype. The intention was that this motion graphic design would be displayed in their physical location to be played in the background idly.

Beef 3D Title Sequence
This project consists of a main title sequence from a made up or preexisting series, film or book. I decided to go with beef as the current title sequence consists of just a title card. This allowed me to create something new with less influence of how the show may have already depicted this.
I decided to go for a more minimalistic route to push beyond the premise of the show which is routed in chaos and color. By modeling the homes of the main character's, Amy and Danny, I was able to showcase the contrast of the worlds of which they inhabit as well as a foreshadowed element with the inclusion of the mountains.

3D Typographic Animation
In this project I designed a singular word or phrase in an animated 3D space. The word 'xochioa' comes from the Nahuatl language of which my name is also derived. The word means 'to burst forth in bloom' of which directly related to the direction chosen to animate a blooming like visual within the text itself.
This project was meant to serve as a playground for me to experiment with simulators and particles within a constraint.

Premiere Film Showcase
In the time of my 2025 winter quarter my class was tasked to, with a partner, create a poster and banner designs while keeping developing overarching graphic identity in mind for the 2025 DePaul Premiere Film showcase. Alongside Elise Harrison, we were able to craft an identity that maintained a fluid abstraction in respects to previous years while keeping an ode to film. Main concept and designs led by me.
The main imagery alludes to both the viewport window of a camera, as well as the screen in a movie theatre. The curling object emerging refers to the concept of film strips emerging from said window and screen.
Cinema 4D was used for all modeling, lighting and textured effects. Photoshop was used for typographic elements and final editing and color grading for the poster. Adobe After Effects for rendered output.
